I have recently finished my second novel, InitiAl and the final touches are being put to it before publication. But when I am feeling in the flow with writing, I often wonder if I could write anything.

  • A poem
  • A song
  • An in-depth feature
  • Anything

Can you write anything?

The reason I ask the question is because I have that feeling at times. The feeling that I can just turn my hand to whatever comes way or takes my fancy

As well as an author, I write for others. I can get all manner of weird and wonderful requests and often turn them down.

But when I’ve just finished a novel, I am ready to take on whatever lands in my lap.

But what does this mean for the average writer?

Well, we need to write as much as possible. Whether you out together a novel for publication or write a few short stories for your own consumption, writing is the perfect practice for writing.

If we develop our skills and confidence in the art of writing, then we get that feeling that we can write just about anything. And that’s a great place to be. Just write away and see where it takes you. It’s a magical place to be…
